Statement from Village of Pleasantville regarding terrorist attack in Israel

As a community and as individuals, we are horrified by the terrorist attack and condemn the murder and kidnapping of innocent civilians in Israel. The beyond disturbing images that continue to come out of Israel defy our understanding of humanity.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and support to the people of Israel during this unthinkable time, and grieve for their loss and the suffering. We also stand behind and support our Jewish community here in Pleasantville and nearby, who are deeply hurting, and many of whom have friends and relatives in Israel.  We wish for the safety of all civilians affected.

Beyond reaching out to our Jewish friends and neighbors individually, there are several upcoming community gatherings where we can show our support and solidarity.

All are welcome to come to a brief, in-person service led by Rabbi Ben Newman to gather together to welcome Shabbat and say prayers for Israel, for peace and for healing, for a return of the hostages.
