Multiple Local Police Departments and Hope Not Handcuffs- Hudson Valley, an Addiction Recovery Program, is Seeking volunteer Angels!

Westchester, NY- Multiple local Westchester Police Departments are seeking volunteer Angels to assist people find treatment for their substance use issues. All the Departments listed below are soon to be Hope Not Handcuffs – Hudson Valley locations.  They will soon be able to offer this resource to our community and open our front door as a first step in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

Greenburgh PD

North Castle PD

Ossining PD

Pleasantville PD

Tarrytown PD

Yorktown PD

 

 

Hope Not Handcuffs-Hudson Valley, a program of the Tri-County Community Partnership Inc., is aimed at bringing law enforcement, community organizations and volunteers together to find viable treatment options for individuals seeking help to reduce dependency with any substance including heroin, prescription drugs, and alcohol. HNH-HV started in Orange County, NY in

 January of 2019, since then the program has rapidly grown to include 31 police departments across 5 counties, incorporating approximately 900 police officers. The program has a volunteer force of over 500 Angels.

 

How the program works: Anyone seeking help in the fight of drug or alcohol addiction may come to any of the participating Police Departments and ask for the Hope Not Handcuffs program.  They will be treated with compassion and respect.  A call will be made to an “Angel” volunteer from the Hope Not Handcuffs team who will come to our department and, utilizing a program placement process, will actively seek out a treatment plan.  Meeting at the police department provides a safe place for Angels and program participants to meet.  Angels will offer comfort items from the Angel Bins located in our department.

 

Through this program individuals suffering from addiction will instantly gain an advocate and a network of resources designed to lead them to success.  Hope Not Handcuffs – Hudson Valley, is a proactive approach to reach out to those in our community who are struggling with drug addiction and to encourage them to seek recovery and regain control of their lives.
