How many copies of plans and specifications are required when applying for a building permit?

One (1) copy of plans and specifications is required when applying for a building permit. In addition to construction plans, a new residence requires one (1) copy of a proposed survey by a licensed Architect or Engineer. These are reviewed by the Building Department and Highway Department prior to issuance of permit. If a well or septic system is being installed, Board of Health approval is required prior to issuance of a permit. The approved copy of plans and specifications is scanned and kept in a master file within the Building Department. The original approved copy is then returned to the applicant to be kept at the job site location and made available during all inspections.
