Police Reform & Reinvention Collaborative

Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order #203 which requires each local government with a police agency to perform a comprehensive review of police policies, procedures and practices; and, develop a plan to improve such protocols for the purposes of addressing particular needs of the communities served by such policy agency. The Village's plan, which was submitted to the state in advance of the April 1st, 2021 deadline, includes five recommendations, each of which is made up of several components. The recommendation categories are: enhanced training for police officers; communication, community outreach and engagement; policies and procedures; enhanced collection and analysis of data; and civil service reform. The Village held a series of public forums, along with public comment periods.
