Local COVID-19 Update

Local COVID19 Update: There are currently two active COVID cases in the Village, and 120 total cases since the beginning of the outbreak. The State is tracking two main indicators to monitor the prevalence of the contagion in our area and across New York. They are hospitalization rates and the positivity rate of testing. In Westchester, the hospitalization rate continues to decline and the positivity rate, that is the percentage of people who test positive for COVID, has been around 1% for the past two weeks. As the re-opening plan proceeds, this data will be closely monitored by public health officials. This information is updated daily, and can be found here: https://forward.ny.gov/percentage-positive-results-region-dashboard

NY Forward – Phase 3 Begins Today: The Mid-Hudson Valley Region, which includes Pleasantville, has moved into Phase 3 of the reopening today. Nail salons and spas can reopen, and restaurants can provide indoor dining with limited capacity. For further details of Phase 3, please visit: https://forward.ny.gov/phase-three-industries

Village Update:

Playgrounds are scheduled to be reopened early next week. Sanitizing protocols will be put in place. Families must abide by social distancing guidelines while utilizing playground equipment.

Parkway Field is also scheduled to reopen early next week to passive recreation. While other Village parks have reopened, Parkway has remained closed so that an ADA compliant walkway and a new sprinkler system could be installed. All other Village parks remain open for passive recreation.

Wheeler Avenue will be closed this Saturday, July 27 from 4PM to 10PM to allow for outdoor dining. Social distancing compliance is extremely important so that this can continue in the weeks ahead.

Wear a Mask: Data continues to show that wearing a mask is extremely effective in stopping the spread of COVID19. It is perhaps the most effective and least restrictive tool our community has to controlling this contagion. Be mindful of the 3 W’s – Wear a mask; wash your hands; and, watch your distance.
